“If women lose the right to say where and how they birth their children, then they will have lost something that's as dear to life as breathing.”
― Ami McKay, The Birth House

Midwives are trained professionals.

Midwives are the traditional care providers for mothers and infants with expertise and skills in supporting women to maintain healthy pregnancies and have optimal births and recoveries during the postpartum period. Midwives provide women with individualized care uniquely suited to their physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and cultural needs.

Midwifery is a woman-centered empowering model of maternity care that is utilized in all of the countries of the world with the best maternal and infant outcomes such as the Netherlands, United Kingdom and Canada.

Your voice should be heard.

You deserve to be heard by your doctors and by your state representatives.

"It's not just the making of babies, but the making of mothers that midwives see as the miracle of birth."

- Barbara Katz Rothman

Palmetto Association of Licensed Midwives (PALM)

As midwives, our first and foremost mission is to serve the women and children of our communities.

As members of the Palmetto Association of Licensed Midwives (PALM) our mission is to serve as a resource of midwifery education and as advocates for the consumer (the mother) through public education and other mechanisms.

It is our goal to promote the specialty of midwifery and to work toward continued integration of midwifery in the healthcare system while upholding standards of excellence for midwifery practice through continued education of our members.

Our passion is to educate women, families, and the medical community on the beauty of birth and the strength inherent in women.

Our desire is to provide a networking structure to identify and address professional midwifery issues and to promote and improve the business conditions for midwives within the healthcare system.
