PALM Legal Fund

For generations, licensed midwives have walked alongside South Carolina families through some of life’s most important moments. They have provided skilled, compassionate care, supporting families as they welcome their babies in the setting they have chosen.

Now, South Carolina’s licensed midwives may need the support of the families and communities they have served.

​

The Palmetto Association of Licensed Midwives (PALM) Legal Fund has been established to help protect access to licensed midwifery care in South Carolina. As regulatory and legal challenges arise that may affect licensed midwives’ ability to practice, PALM needs the resources to respond effectively and ensure midwives have access to appropriate professional and legal support.

Funds raised through this campaign will be reserved to help PALM address legal and regulatory matters affecting the practice of licensed midwifery and the continued availability of this care to South Carolina families.

​

For many families, their midwife answered late-night questions, sat beside them through hours of labor, helped them bring their baby safely into their arms, and continued showing up in the vulnerable days and weeks afterward.

This is an opportunity to show up for them.
